This is actually the second time I have made Amish Friendship Bread. It’s a lot of fun the first time, but only a little fun the second time.
I picked up a starter from a friend at our homeschool co-op. I squished my bag as directed and added the right ingredients on the right day, but when it came to giving out the new starters.. all my friends were Friendship Bread overloaded. LOL.
So last night I took 2 cups of the starter, doubled the recipe and made 4 loaves of bread for myself. In all actuality, I probably could have made over 10 loaves, but I just didn’t want to waste all that money in ingredients for that.
The bread turned out yummy of course, but I think I’ll pass the next time someone has a starter to give out.
If for some reason you have no idea as to what I’m talking about, I found out that Wikipedia DOES know everything. They even have a definition for Amish Friendship Bread.
Here is a recipe for the starter and directions on how to make the bread.
