It’s Favorite Things Day over at Fiddledeedee’s.
Today my Favorite Things are my Grape Tomato plants my DH planted for me in our garden. (Sorry for the bad picture, I forgot I had it on a different setting).
I never really was a big tomato fan. I could eat them on cheeseburgers and cooked in a great tomato sauce, but I usually don’t like them raw.
But then last year, I was reading an article around Christmas time. It was giving you hints on how to resist all the sweets that are available around Christmas parties and such. One of the hints was to munch on grape tomatoes. Something in the tomatoes helps fight off the ‘sugar’ monster.
So I started popping grape and cherry tomatoes whenever I could. And now I’m hooked.
The other day my DH came to me and said:
” Honey, I’m really sorry. I planted those tomato plants for you and I’ve seen little green ones on there, but it seems like the disappear before I can bring them in.”
I just had to giggle. Little did he know at the time that I was getting out to the garden and snatching them up. They never even make it into the house. I eat them before I get back.
They are SOOO yummy and so much better from home.
I bought a pint at a local grocery store the other day and was bummed when I bit into them. What a BIG difference it was from my homegrown ones.
