A lot of moms out there are packing up their kids and sending them back to school in the next few weeks. Some are really excited, some are nervous, and probably a lot of them are both. Yet, for the mom writing this post, who has two young adults that are done with school… I am actually the excited and nervous one going back.
I am currently enrolled in an online course to become a Certified Health Coach and it is one that I can usually do at home. Yet, even though most days are spent in my home office doing school, there are times when my schedule dictates that I pack things up and hit the road. That’s when packing a healthy lunch or snack comes in handy.
Eating Right On The Road
To get this ‘older’ brain to work properly, I have to make sure that I’m eating right and getting enough sleep.
The sleep thing I can do at home, no problem there, but when it comes to eating while out on the road, well sometimes that can be a bit more difficult, so I’m always looking for healthy, organic snacks that I can take with me.
Too many times I have forgotten to bring a healthy snack along and have paid the price of either just not eating or picking something that isn’t all that healthy. Though I know it’s fun to treat yourself to fun foods sometimes, my body usually tells me later that it wasn’t such a great idea.
Taking the extra steps to plan out and load up on snacks that are good for me has become habit now and makes running errands or doing school on the road a lot more enjoyable.
Packing the Good Stuff
Thanks to Justin’s, Stonyfield, and Pack It, I can now pack some very delicious, healthy snacks up in style. I was sent samples of Justin’s Chocolate Hazelnut Butter Pretzel Snack Packs, Maple Almond Butter, and Honey Peanut Butter. I also received a really cute lunch bag from Pack It that I can store in the freezer and take with me to keep my snacks chilled.
When I first received the box of samples, I of course went for the Chocolate Hazelnut Butter Snack Packs, because who doesn’t love chocolate AND the opportunity to ‘eat your spoon‘ (as Justin’s web site says)? These little snack packs are not only delicious, but they are fun to eat. When the pretzels were gone and there was chocolate left to be eaten, I for sure stuck my finger down in to make sure every last little bit of chocolate was not wasted. Big Kid Style for sure!
Making Rice Cakes Taste Awesome
Believe it or not, I really do love rice cakes. I know there are a lot of people out that don’t like them, but when you can spread out some delicious butters like the Honey Peanut Butter or the Maple Almond Butter all over the top… you barely even notice that you’re eating a rice cake.
These little one serving packets of nut butters from Justin’s are perfect for traveling. No need for scissors or added containers to store peanut butter. These packets are the go to for any lunchbox – big or little kids style.
