I received a copy of this book in exchange for my review. All thoughts and opinions are all mine. Affiliate links may also be included.
I have had this book in my possession for a few weeks now. I pick it up, start to read it, make notes, do some underlining and read some more. It’s such an interesting read to me that I am taking my time getting through it.
So much great information. Some of which is going over my head a little because of the science of it all, but in a whole, it has definitely got me hooked.
In My Humble Opinion
First let me say, this review is written from my little ole housewife’s point of view. I am not a scientist, nor am I certified nutritionist or doctor. I am just a person, interested in living a healthy lifestyle, who wants to learn more about plant-based eating.
There are tons of great articles out there by people who are more educated in this field then I am. Some of which agree and some that disagree with the information put forth by The China Study. I have read quite a few and see their point of view, yet I will write this review with my own opinions and thoughts.
The China Study by T. Colin Campbell ~ A Plant-Based Diet Resource
With all that being said, don’t let the whole ‘science’ thing turn you away from reading The China Study. The book is written in such a way that anyone can understand it. It is broken down in four different parts that will guide you through.
The China Study will take you from the background of the who, what, where, and why this study was started to the reason of why this information is rarely talked about. T. Colin Campbell,PHD and Thomas M. Campbell, MD have put together a wonderful book that presents a clear and concise message of what we eat and how it is effecting our health.
This book has been affirmation for me to continue in my plant-based eating. I can testify, that in my own life, I have seen how eating this way has allowed me to live a more healthier lifestyle. Reading through The China Study is allowing me to absorb all the data, scientific evidence, and general information of the benefits of eating healthier.
If you have thought about eating a more plant-based diet or would like to know more about the different studies and scientific data that T. Colin Campbell, PHD has collected, I would highly suggest reading The China Study.
From the Publisher
Even today, as trendy diets and a weight-loss frenzy sweep the nation, two-thirds of adults are still obese and children are being diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, typically an “adult” disease, at an alarming rate. If we’re obsessed with being thin more so than ever before, why are Americans stricken with heart disease as much as we were 30 years ago?
In The China Study, Dr. T. Colin Campbell details the connection between nutrition and heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. The report also examines the source of nutritional confusion produced by powerful lobbies, government entities, and opportunistic scientists. The New York Times has recognized the study as the “Grand Prix of epidemiology” and the “most comprehensive large study ever undertaken of the relationship between diet and the risk of developing disease.”
The China Study is not a diet book. Dr. Campbell cuts through the haze of misinformation and delivers an insightful message to anyone living with cancer, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and those concerned with the effects of aging.
