I was BEYOND THRILLED to find out that my family and I were going to get the opportunity to review the new Epic Mickey 2: The Power of 2 video game.
If you are any kind of follower of The Not So Perfect Housewife, you know we are HUGE Disney fans.
Disney pretty much invades every part of our life, even our game playing.
So when I received the game in the mail, I quickly enlisted the help of my oldest daughter, who has played the first Epic Mickey numerous times, in reviewing the new game.
Now, I’ve gone out on the web and read some really great ‘technical’ reviews of Epic Mickey 2 and that’s awesome if that’s what your looking for..
But if you’re looking for a review that will tell you a non a techy/gamer type review, but a normal ‘run of the mill sit down with the family’ and play kind of review, here it is..
WE LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!
Disney’s Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, is a follow up of the best selling Disney Epic game that was released only for the Wii system in 2010. But just as any number 2 game should be, this game is packed with all kinds of great new stuff and has even expanded to reach across all the consoles, including the Nintendo’s newest creation, the Wii U.
In Epic Mickey 2, gamers are allowed to play as Mickey Mouse, and for the first time ever, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Walt Disney’s first cartoon star. All centered around a grand new adventure of creativity and discovery.
With Wii remotes (including nunchucks) in hand, my daughter and I grabbed a seat in front of the TV and began to explore the new adventures that awaited us in saving Wasteland again.
Having not played the first one a whole lot myself, I quickly realized it was better to sit and watch as my daughter explored this new game. She had fun exploring familiar areas, but also loved all the new details, worlds, and storylines. Filled with over 80 years of forgotten Disney characters and theme park attractions, Epic Mickey 2 will not bore a tried and true Disney fan.
Even though I mostly watched her play that game, I was also able to ‘Drop In’ to help as Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. This option is AWESOME!!. I can pop in and play with her whenever I feel like, or she just can just play the game on her own.
This new co-op play (with a second player or not) combined with enhanced in-game physics will further enhance the idea that ‘PlayStyle Matters’ – a unique approach to gameplay pioneered by Warren Spector where players dynamically tackle different challenges in order to explore all the possibilities and storylines, but with consequences for their chosen actions.
There are SOOO many hidden visual treats in this game, it’s unreal. As Hidden Mickey seekers ourselves, we love to look for any hidden Disney treat, but this game is mind-blowing in that aspect. Even going back in the game, I’ve seen things that I missed the first time through.. and I know that will happen over and over again!
It will definitely keep you coming back for more..
Have I said that we LOVE this game enough yet?? Well we do!
So far we’ve gotten all the way to Mad Doc’s Lab, but I know we’ve only cracked the surface of this game.
If some new console games are on your families wish list this holiday season… I would HIGHLY suggest getting a copy of Disney’s Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two!
Follow The Not So Perfect Housewife on Facebook.. I’ll be sharing updates as we get more and more into the game.
**I received a copy of this game in exchange for a review. All opinions and thoughts are 100% all mine**
