Best selling vegan author, Lindsay S. Nixon has done it again. She has created another cookbook that I have fallen in love with and want to share with you, Happy Herbivore Holidays & Gatherings.
Lindsay stays true to who she is, an ‘everyday’ cooking style that uses unprocessed plant based foods with no strange ingredient lists. No running to the specialty markets for these recipes.
Inside Happy Herbivore Holidays & Gatherings you’ll find 12 different special occasions that are covered in detail, with more than two dozen menus. Lindsay also includes instructions on how to keep your party planning easy.
And than of course there are the recipes. From Portobella Pot Roast to Hot Chocolate Muffins, Lindsay has done a fabulous job putting together easy to follow and make recipes.
I always like going through Lindsay’s books and trying to find the one recipe that just seems the farthest stretch for me to make. The one that when you look at it, you just think, no… that can’t taste good.
So for this review, I chose the Carrot Hot Dogs from the Kids Approved Party chapter.
When I first saw this picture and recipe, I thought – no way could those taste good. Yet, after following Lindsay’s easy recipe and instructions, I found myself eating Carrot Hot Dogs and REALLY enjoying them.
I was truly surprised at the taste of these ‘hot dogs’, and I couldn’t wait to get my families reactions. After everyone had the chance to taste them, we ALL were extremely surprised how good they tasted. Of course they don’t taste exactly like hot dogs, but they are good substitute.
There are so many other great recipes in Holidays & Gatherings too. This is definitely a cookbook you can use year round.
