Harry Connick, JR’s That Would Be Me
I participated in the That Would Be Me album review program as a member of One2One Network. I was provided an album to review but all opinions are my own.
When my girls were little babies and would be fussy for one reason or another, Harry Connick, JR‘s CD We Are In Love was on continuous play.
Something about his soothing, sultry voice made not only my little girls feel better, but it made their mama feel better too.
So when the opportunity arose through the One2One Network to review Harry’s newest CD, I quickly signed up.
That Would Be Me is a different kind of Harry Connick, JR than the We Are In Love Harry, so it took me by surprise when I started listening to it.
That Would Be Me is Harry’s newest CD that has taken him out of his comfort zone of his regular stylings by working with new producers, that I’m guessing, challenged him musically.
I listened to the whole album and to be honest, wasn’t thrilled with all of the songs. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m used to hearing a certain type of music from Harry or what, but I had a hard time falling in love with this music.
There were a few songs like I Like It When You Smile and I Think I Love You A Little Bit that I thought were good. Each song was different and unique in its own way, which definitely kept me listening, but also hard to grasp at the same time.
I’m not a musician by any means, so it’s really hard to write anything negative because from an artistic perspective, I’m sure Harry has hit it out of the park. It’s just the normal, housewifey part of me that prefers his older albums better.
Of course, don’t take my word for it. Definitely check it out for yourself. You may really enjoy it .
If you do check it out, come back and let me know what you think!

TRACK LISTING:
I love Harry Connick Jr., too! Saw him perform at Dr. Phillips Center in Orlando this year! I agree, he has a traditional sound that I love, and it would take an adjustment to listen to another type of song from him. But I did like the song in the video preview on your blog post, so hoping that they would all sound like that. I’m interested now to see what he did and new arrangements!
