I LOVE Cookbooks
If you walked into my kitchen pantry and saw my cookbook shelves (yes I said shelves), you would think that I had a complete collection. Two rows, about 8 feet long, packed with all different kinds of cookbooks, and yet it’s not complete. And I don’t think it ever will be.
You see, I LOVE cookbooks. I love antique type cookbooks and ones that have stains from years of use. I enjoy the ones that center on just one topic, like chocolate, or strange ones like ‘how many different ways to cook Maryland crab‘. Show be just about any type of cookbook and I’m a fan.
You see, I simply LOVE cookbooks.
The Joy of the Review
Reviewing cookbooks, to me, isn’t a job at all. It’s a guilty pleasure that I get to enjoy. One of many blessings I receive from being a blogger. Getting a chance to sit down and flip through the results of someone’s hard work is fun for me. Seeing, and even tasting, their passion for cooking by trying out their recipes and reading about why they put the cookbook together is something I love to share with you, my followers.
Not every cookbook I have had the opportunity has turned out to be fabulous, but up to this point, I still haven’t come across one that I didn’t even liked just a little bit.
I mean really.. it’s food… it’s recipes… how can you not like that?
Healing the Vegan Way
When it comes to cooking plant-based meals, some would think that you would be very limited as to what you can do with veggies, nuts, and grains. Yet nothing could be farther from the truth. Finding cookbooks like Healing the Vegan Way not only adds to my cookbook collection, but it also makes trying to new recipes like a fun adventure.

Recipes and More Recipes
Wow! Healing the Vegan Way is PACKED with over 200 recipes. All plant-based and with ingredients that shouldn’t be hard for any home cook to find.
Although, for me, there weren’t enough pictures (I like to see what the end project should look like), Healing the Vegan Way is quickly becoming a favorite of mine due to all the different recipes that I want to try.
The Proof is in the Potato
Now I know that trying a potato recipe isn’t all that difficult of a thing to do. Baking potatoes is pretty simple, but making Wasabi Garlic Twice-Baked Potatoes was a little gutsy for me. I’m not a big spicy fan, but since my husband is always such a great trooper for trying out all these new recipes with me, I thought I’d make one that he would enjoy.
I decided to make a bunch of baked potatoes and make it kind of a potato bar type night. I followed the directions and nervously mixed up the wasabi powder into the potato filling. We waited a few minutes for the potatoes to finish their second bake, then set up all our toppings for our creations.
I piled mine high with cashew cream and grilled mushrooms and onions. Fixed my salad and took my seat at the table. Did I tell you I was nervous about the wasabi? Well, I was.. but I went ahead and took my first bite!
YUMMY! They were delicious. Not to spicy, thankfully, but just enough kick to make it exciting. The hubster gave them a thumbs up too, so I’m sure we will be making these again very soon.
