Over the years I’ve had LOTS of friends tell me how great it is to make your own laundry detergent.
I’ve always clipped tons of coupons though and been able to buy laundry detergent either REALLY cheap or for Free, so I never really saw the need to try.
Well, since I’ve gotten a little behind on the coupon clipping thing and prices of just about everything, including laundry detergent has gone up, I figured I would try it out.
It is REALLY easy to make.
Has the possibilities of making TONS of detergent, works REALLY well, and makes it kind of fun to say..
“I made my own laundry detergent”
Makes me feel a little like Mrs. Ingalls on Little House and the Prairie.. LOL.
There are A LOT of great web sites and videos out there to help you if you want to take this.
The one I used was:
1 Cup Grated Fels Naptha Soap
1/2 Cup Washing Soda
1/2 Cup Borax
For light load, use 1 tablespoon.
For heavy or heavily soiled load, use 2 tablespoons.
I saw another one that added Oxi-Clean to this mixture and I may try that the next go around.
If your looking for more, just Google Homemade Laundry Detergent and you’ll find all kinds of great stuff!
I’m off to plow to field and churn butter…
