I am NOT the most organized person.
From a distance it may look like I am, but I’m really not. I have TONS of great information and materials to be organized, but it REALLY takes work for me to actually BE ORGANIZED.
One of the ways I “TRY” being organized is with my meals and grocery shopping.
Now Breakfast and Lunch are free for alls in this house, but I do like to plan out my dinners. I truly believe that this saves me TONS of money by not cooking on a whim and buying stuff I don’t need or needing something and paying WAY to much money for it because it’s not on sale.
This is what my kitchen island looks like on Monday mornings. This is Command Central for me when it comes to planning the week out.
All of this includes:
Cooking magazines for recipe ideas
Grocery list (from Donna Young.org) – highlighted – blue for Publix, Yellow for Walmart
Blank Calendar – for writing in daily menu’s
I keep all my blank lists and such in this cute file folder that I got from Carolina Pad company!
I go through what’s on sale at Publix first, mark my list, then from there I’ll see what I can make for the week for dinner and fill in the rest of our needs at our local Super Walmart.
I know that this may seem somewhat organized but it has taken me a long time to get here. I’ve been trying for years to get a good system down and now I actually think I’ve got it down.
One of my FAVORITE web sites to use to help me with putting this all together is Fiddledeedee Mom’s blog. She does an AMAZING job matching up all of Publix’s sales with printable coupons and coupons from the papers.
So there you have it. That’s how one way I ‘TRY’ to be organized when it comes to my meal planning and grocery deals.
