I’m cooking via the Plaid book today.
I’ve flipped the pages of my Better Homes & Garden cookbook and I’m making Hummus.
I’m new to the whole ‘Hummus’ scene. It was probably only a year ago when I finally got up the nerve to dip my chip into this mushy madness. But after that, I was HOOKED!
I do LOVE ME some hummus.
I’ve tried to make it before, but failed. I didn’t have the Tahini paste and I think something else went horribly wrong.
But not this time. This time it turned out DELICIOUS!
First, I cooked up some chick peas.
This is my FAVORITE new thing to do. Rinse off a bag of beans and stick in the crock pot. A few hours later, I’ve got a whole bunch of beans for HALF the cost of 1 can. LOVE IT! ( I freeze whatever I’m not going to use and thaw them out for other recipes).
My small crock pot is perfect for this job!
Once I let the chick peas cool over night, I grabbed all the other needed ingredients and processed away.
I used some some home roasted garlic instead of regular garlic to give it an added kick, and YUMMMY, what a delicious kick it was.
I always thought Tahini paste would be hard to find. But to my surprise I found it at our local Super Walmart!
After processing all the ingredients, I took the first taste test.
YAHOO!! It tasted great! And my daughter can munch out on it because it’s Gluten Free!
Now I just need to keep myself from eating it all in one sitting.
I’m Mad for Plaid myself. LOL.
