The other day my husband told me that our pantry is looking more and more like an aisle we’d walk down at the local health food store.
I took that as a HUGE compliment. Thank you dear.
The Messy Pantry
Now, my pantry isn’t usually this messy.. well actually it is.. but for this picture I tried to move stuff around so you can see what kind of items I enjoy cooking and snacking on.
I do like to keep things organized, as you can tell, but to be honest, sometimes it’s just too darn hard to find a cute little organizing product to put a load of Cliff Bars or rice bags in, so you just make do.
As I stated in my a recent post, I like to purchase a lot of our healthy products either through VitaCost, Costco, and recently Thrive Market. I try to purchase a few of each item so I always have something healthy on hand, which makes eating healthier a lot easier.
On To The Friday Favorites
As I was thinking about the whole ‘Friday Favorites’ tag that goes around, I thought it would be fun to share some of the products that I have either currently found or use on a regular bases. I love looking at Instagram pictures and other blog posts of items people purchase because sometimes I see something that I would have never thought to look for other wise.
This week I thought I’d share with you my favorite pasta, my favorite snack, and my favorite condiment for my morning oatmeal.
My Favorite Pasta
Ancient Harvest has been my families go to pasta for over a year now. Since going gluten free a few years back, we have tasted quite a few different pasta’s and we always come back to Ancient Harvest. The pasta always cooks up nicely and tastes great.
My Favorite Snack
Now for snacking, well, I have to be careful here. I try really hard NOT to buy a lot of ‘healthy’ snacks.
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE a good snack, but just because it has ingredients that are either healthy or allergy friendly doesn’t mean they are calorie free. You can gain weigh just as quickly eating ‘good for you snacks‘ as you do the not so good for you ones, so I don’t deprive myself of some delicious treats, but I am careful not to buy them all the time.
With that being said, Wholesome Chow makes some amazingly delicious Chocolate Chip cookies. They are the perfect size for just a small treat and they are free of most allergens.
My Favorite Oatmeal Condiment
Just about every morning, I fix myself a bowl of organic oatmeal.
I used to be a HUGE breakfast eater. Eggs, English muffins, cold cereal, and all, but recently I’m just as happy, and feel a lot better in the morning, when I start out with a simple bowl of oatmeal with a little bit of Nutiva coconut sugar sprinkled on top.
Coconut sugar tastes a lot like brown sugar. I’ve read that it has a lower glycemic index to it, but in general there isn’t a huge difference from coconut sugar to any other natural sweetener. As with anything, I just look for the purest, organic form and use it in moderation.
Do you have any new healthy favorites that you have recently found?
