Our local library is NOT stocked up on good old fashioned movies. So now that we are able to order movies through Netflix, we are able to order movies that I’ve been wanting to share with my princesses.
Even though this movie is about 3 hours long, it’s one of my favorites.
It goes back to the time when movies were done a big scale and the stories were complex and sometimes strange.
My youngest princess and I sat in our pj’s this morning (we worshiped last night at our church) and watched Rock Hudson fall head over heals in love with Elizabeth Taylor within the first couple minutes. From there it’s a quick move from the beautiful rolling hills of Maryland to the dust flat lands of Texas.
I had also realized that my daughter had NEVER been introduced to James Dean! It was fun to hear her compare him to Johnny Depp or Heath Ledger. This was his last movie before his untimely death. Just like Heath Ledger, he seemed to be set for great movie stardom.
Rock Hudson is tall, handsome, and talks with a Texas draw. Elizabeth Taylor is a spit fire young girl in love and ready to become a true Texian. James Dean is the strange but amazingly handsome outcast who strikes it rich.
I know 3 hours is a long time, but I tell you what, if your stuck in the house on a rainy day, this is one movie you need to put on, curl up with a hot cup of coffee, and enjoy!
