I’ve said quite a few times on Instagram how much I love my town, but today I wanted to share a little bit of Deland here on my blog with you.
My town Deland it pretty darn adorable.
Old houses, old buildings, unique shops, and some delicious places to eat, are just a few of the reasons I love living here.
This past weekend, a dear friend of mine from MD was down visiting. She’s an avid Geo-cacher (don’t even know if I’m spelling that right), and she’s always looking for new ‘caches’ to log when she’s in town, so when she pulled one up called “Persimmon Hollow” something… we grabbed her gear, jumped in the jeep, and headed downtown to do a little caching.
Now, I’ve lived in Deland for about 10 years now, and I thought I knew a good bit of the history about my town… but after doing this cache with my friend, I can now say I know A LOT more… and my town is pretty awesome.
Naval stations, old general stores, lots of land donated, entrepreneurs, an unfortunate fire, and even a round wooden skating rink are some of the other really cool things I learned.
I won’t take up more time giving you all the details… because really… you should come see it for yourself…
But here are some pictures I snapped while out on our adventure.
And of course, after a long adventure around town, you need to refuel…
So, we stopped at the Byte and had an AMAZING lunch..
This meal was ALL veggies.. Sautéed Napa Cabbage, Spinach, Mushrooms, Red Pepper, Artichokes, Scallions, Brioche Roll
Looks yummy doesn’t it.
If you’re ever in the Central Florida area.. make sure you stop by and check out my town.. Deland..
