Being an empty nester would lead one to think that life gets less busy for a mom. More free time, and maybe even moments of boredom.
Well, I’m here to tell you that that’s not true. I have been an empty nester for about 5 years now and at the end of most of my days I’m wondering where the time went. Between blogging, doing administrative work for my husbands business, and taking care of our home, my life is just as busy as it was when my girls were here.
Grabbing Some Present Time
Not having little ones around all the time does give me a little more flexibility of how I spend my time though. If a week has been packed with things to do, I make sure I schedule some down time for myself.
Taking a moment to be still and or be present is important for anyone’s health. If gives us time to regroup and kind of recharge for the rest of the day.
Being Comfortable Helps
For me, being present at different times of the day depends on how comfortable I am.
The most comfortable for me is at home, in bare-feet, wearing some comfy clothes, snacking on a cup of Stonyfield’s O’Soy yogurt, and soaking up some Vitamin D. That to me, is being present. Just being able to be still, enjoying some delicious dairy-free yogurt and just being still is awesome.
I Got My Comfy Pants On
My quiet time starts with my comfy pants.

It’s Not Only About Being Still
Believe it or not, but being in the kitchen and cooking up a delicious meal for my family is actually a good ‘being present‘ time for me.
The kitchen is therapeutic for me. I don’t know what it is, but give me some good music, some organic foods, and a great recipe, and I’m a happy girl.
It may seem crazy to you, but cooking by myself allows me to relax and enjoy something I really love to do.

How Do You Celebrate The Whole You?
It’s really important to find some time during your day to just be still. Whether it’s a quiet lunch break in the car outside of the office or a nice stroll around the block. Shutting off the world for a few moments can breath new life into your day and bring more joy to your life.
