I received samples and compensation through Tessemae’s and Bloggin’ Mama’s for this post. All thoughts and opinions are 100% all mine.
There are those moments in time when I create something that tastes, in my opinion, simply fabulous in the kitchen and I think, I should TOTALLY market this some how, but than the moment passes and the thought is gone. I usually just chalk it up to ‘it just wasn’t meant to be‘ and move on.
There are some people out there though who have those moments in their life and they run with it. That’s the case with the Tessemae’s boys.
You see, as the story goes, the Vetter boys didn’t like eating their vegetables, so their mom, Tess, started making homemade salad dressings to entice them to eat. Tess wanted to make sure that, not only did her boys like the dressings, but that what she was making was good for her boys. Made from a few fresh ingredients that tasted good.
Fast forward a few years and the Vetter boys realize how awesome their moms dressings are, so they decide to go into business. They wanted to make healthy, natural products, just like their mom made, and share them with the rest of the world.
Right From The Start
I recently had the opportunity to sample four of the Natural Dressing and Marinades from Tessemae’s. I was pleasantly surprised that this company is from my home town Maryland! It’s not often I get the opportunity to support my old home town, so this was a lot of fun for me and added a little somehing special to it.
Right from the start I loved the look of these bottles. I loved how they added the special touch of a wax type material on the bottle, not only giving it a cool look, but a nice extra seal too.
I received the Honey Balsamic, Balsamic, Green Goddess, and Lemon Garlic flavors. Each of these dressings have a very small ingredient list, which I love. No added junk fillers or chemicals you can’t pronounce, just good, wholesome, natural ingredients like:
- Organic Sunflower oil
- Organic Lemon juice
- Organic Spices
All of the dressings I tried were organic, which if you know me at all, is thumbs up from the beginning.
I taste tested each of the dressings the night I was making some wild caught Salmon for dinner. I was sure which one I wanted to use as a marinade. Each dressing has a distinct taste. A strong flavor of freshness. I was torn between the Lemon Garlic and the Honey Balsamic.
The salmon tasted AMAZING that night. I could eat salmon about once a week, but my husband isn’t that big of fan. Yet, when I marinated the fish in Tessamae’s Honey Balsamic, he really enjoyed it.
Since than, I’ve tried all the other dressings and can say they are all my favorite. The Lemon Garlic made our organic oven baked chicken taste great and the Green Goddess makes our salads pop with flavor.
Tessemae’s heart and passion to make whole, healthy products for their customers is just what I look for in companies that I like to support and buy from. Knowing that a company really cares about what they are making and being open and honest about their ingredients is, in my opinion pretty darn awesome.
And hey.. they’re from my ole hometown, so of course it’s gonna be good.
