Living a plant based, non dairy lifestyle can have its struggles.
One of them is finding alternatives to yogurt.
Before I was diagnosed as being lactose intolerant, I loved having a good, fruit filled yogurt parfait or being able to make a nice fluffy, moist gluten-free french bread because I used yogurt. Now though, as it doesn’t make me feel good and I’ve learned more about the whole dairy process, I choose not to have yogurt in my diet… but I do miss it.
Well, let me say, I MISSED it. Now, thanks to Silk, I think I may have found a delicious, dairy-free yogurt alternative! Packed with tons (well 6g actually) of plant powered protein per serving and free of any dairy, cholesterol, and artificial flavors and colors, this yogurt alternative is quickly becoming a favorite treat for me.
So far I’ve had the chance to try the Black Cherry and the Tropical Pineapple. Both were extremely smooth, creamy, and to be honest, surprisingly tasty. I was afraid that they would have the kind of strange tofu/soy taste that I’ve had in other products, but they really didn’t. I even think it tasted better than the ole dairy filled stuff I ate before. With additional flavors like Strawberry, Blueberry, Vanilla, and Peach & Many, I’m can now look forward to incorporating these into recipes and into my breakfast menus once again!
