I have been a follower of Tess Masters for quite awhile now. I’ve enjoyed all the great recipes, information, pictures, and even giveaways that she has on her site, so I was MORE than thrilled when I found out that I could review her debut cookbook.
Tess Masters –aka, The Blender Girl, has put together a very impressive and much anticipated debut cookbook. Packed with 100 gluten-free and vegan recipes, The Blender Girl doesn’t disappoint when it comes to delicious new and inventive foods to try.
Sitting down with The Blender Girl cookbook in hand, I found myself taking notes right from the get go!! Even though I’ve followed her blog for a long time, it was mostly window shopping for me. Lot’s of things pinned on Pinterest, but never really tried any of her recipes. So, with pen and paper in hand, I was making notes and putting to memory some of the great information she has packed into this new book.
From the very beginning, Tess goes beyond just sharing recipes with you. She educates you and shares with you her own story of finding health and happiness through eating right.
The Lowdown section at the beginning of the book walks you through what to look for in a good blender, in the ‘love your blender’ chapter. This will help any newbie, like myself, who doesn’t even know what to look for when it comes to blenders. In ‘healthy ideas to blend in’, subjects like ‘soak and sprout’ teach you about soaking and sprouting nuts to bring out all the great nutrients and enzymes that are locked in them.
Once you’ve taken all that great information in, Tess shares with you some of her favorite and most popular recipes. Covering the menu landscape of smoothies & shakes, desserts, and even some awesome tonic recipes.
So far I’ve tried two recipes from The Blender Girl. Both being of the chocolate realm, but none the less, VERY tasty and delicious.
First I tried my hand at the Chocolate Truffles.
OH MY HEAVENLY GOODNESS!!
These things are AWESOME!!
Easy to make, so delicious, and very addicting.
My next recipe try was the Chock-full chocolate surprise.
I have to laugh when I look at these pictures, because when I made this, I let the guys around my house taste test it. They ALL wrinkled up their noses and asked what it was, but once they took a sip, they ALL loved it. Even after I told them what was in it. Almond milk, baby spinach, frozen broccoli, banana, cocoa powder and a few other ingredients.
Both recipes were a hit at my house. And I already have quite a few more penciled in to try this week.
I’m thinking this cookbook is going to get worn out in the near future.
So dust off that old blender you have sitting at the top of your pantry (at least that’s where mine was), grab Tess Masters The Blender Girl cookbook, and start making some delicious and healthy recipes for your family today.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for my review. All thoughts and opinions are 100% all mine.
