I am sitting here in bewilderment of where the first half of this year has gone. It’s the end of June already? It seems like I was just cleaning up all the Christmas decorations last week.
June has been a fast paced month here at The Not So Perfect Housewife, but I wanted to take a moment and share with you some of The Things I Loved In June that I came across here on the world wide web.
Things I Loved In June ~ Nuts & Weeds
Did You Know You Can Eat Weeds?
You sure can. Some weeds even pack a pretty mighty nutrient punch too!
I’m not a huge weed eater myself, but that is mainly because I wasn’t aware of what I could and couldn’t eat. That was until I came across this great post from Healthy Green Savvy about all the different kinds of weeds that may be growing right out in your backyard and how you may be able to eat them.
Homemade Almond Milk
I drink Almond milk just about every day. It’s my creamer in my coffee and a huge addition to my smoothies each day. I usually have about two to three half gallons of almond in my fridge at a time, so making it home made is something I definitely would like to try.
I’ve seen some videos of people making it before, but I’ve always shyed away from making it. A Modern Homestead has a really simple recipe for almond milk though that is making me think it may be worth trying out.
Cinnamon Coconut Ice Cream
Ok, it’s summer time, so I couldn’t post a June link up without including an ice-cream post right?
Whole Natural Life has put together a great post on how to make this delicious looking Cinnamon Coconut Ice-Cream. She even includes information on how to make this without an ice cream maker. I know I am so going to try this recipe this weekend!
OK, OK. No these are not weeds not are they nuts, but they do look really good don’t they?
I love finding new companies (at least to me) that make organic products, so I was happy to read about these Wild Tree Spices over on Call Me Crunchy’s blog. A good cook always needs good spices, so they may be worth checking out.
and last, but certainly not least..
Soap Nuts For The Laundry
I had NEVER heard of Soap Nuts before in my life, yet what caught my attention with this post was the picture. I remember seeing something like this at a yard sale one time and I thought it was a practical joke. I had NO idea that you could use something like this to actually clean your clothes without a bunch of chemicals. How cool is that?
You Learn Something New Every Month
This was my second month of doing a The Things I Loved In..post. It’s always a lot of fun to learn new things and to be able to share them you. I hope you will click on over to some of these posts and check them out for yourself.
What About You?
Did you find something fun or cool this month? Leave me comment and let me know!

Goodbye to June & Hello to July!
