I received a copy of this book in exchange for my review. All thoughts are 100% all mine.
There’s a picture of my sister and I, somewhere down deep in the bottom of a box full of photos.
It’s a photo of just about any American girl growing up in the 70’s. Pigtails, cute dresses, and colorful Easter baskets in our hands.
Whether we were coming back from Easter Mass or getting ready to head out to our cousins for the annual Easter family picnic, these pictures tell a story.
It Wasn’t Until I Grew Up
All of my Easter celebrations growing up were pretty much just like the ones I described above. We would head to church, then go and visit family. Eat lots of food and then battle each other over who could find the most plastic eggs hidden around the yard.
It was always a lot of fun. Such great memories.
But it wasn’t until I was in my late twenties that I can honestly say that I truly grasped what Easter was all about.
Yes, I knew the story. Jesus died and three days later was risen from the grave. Yet it never made an eternal difference in my life until I fully understood who Jesus was. That knowing Him, in a deeper, surrendered way, would turn my life upside down in a beautiful, fantastic, way.
The Women of Easter by Liz Curtis Higgs
